NHS Podiatry

Podiatry is a medical speciality which diagnosis and treats foot related problems of patient with an assessed risk; providing education and support for self management in order to promote foot health. Referral to the service can be made by GP / Practice Nurse / Community Nurse / Healthcare Professional / Self Referral. All referrals are triaged by a Podiatrist and allocated as Soon, Urgent or Routine.

Phlebotomy Service

To ensure the safe delivery of care for patients who require regular phlebotomy for disease and medication monitoring, Phlebotomy Hubs have been established in Angus at 4 locations; Arbroath Royal Infirmary, Whitehills Health Centre (Forfar), Stracathro Hospital and Links Health Centre (Montrose). 

The hubs will operate between 8:00 am until 4:00pm Monday to Friday, though not all hubs will be open every day.

Mental Health

Enhanced Community Support (ECS) Mental Health & Wellbeing Hub

The Enhanced Community Support (ECS) Mental Health and Wellbeing Hub is a new screening hub to manage referrals for adult patients who need additional support or specialist care and treatment for their mental health and wellbeing, self-harm and/or substance use. The Hub also accept referrals for 11-16 year olds for the Young People’s Peer Support Worker, this service is aimed at young people with less complex mental health and well-being challenges.

Ear Care Clinic

Do you have problems with Ear Wax build up?.  If so please contact the Ear Care Services on 01241 822 527.  (See attached leaflet).

Springfield Medical Centre is a Hearing Aid Battery Collection Point.  Please bring your (yellow) Hearing Aid Book if you are coming to pick up new batteries.

All pregnant women are now asked to access a link to complete their pregnancy booking.

Termination of Pregnancy

If you find yourself unexpectedly pregnant, there is a self referral telephone line to allow you to discuss your options. The telephone line will be answered Monday to Friday 0800-1700hrs with and answer phone message out of hours advising what to do.

Where appropriate a telephone consultation will be booked and a Nurse will contact the women on the agreed date and time. Telephone consultation will be undertaken and an agreement progressed from there.

Physiotherapy

First Contact Physiotherapy

Your GP Practice has a new service, seeing a Physiotherapist first instead of your GP could be right for you. 

  • Are you aged 16 or over?
  • Do you have a muscle, back or joint problem?
  • The physiotherapist can assess, diagnose and give advice on pain and movement?
  • They can refer for further treatment, arrange investigations or refer to specialists?
  • Reception staff can help determine if First Contact Physiotherapy is the right service for you?

Please call the surgery on 01241-870311 and the reception staff will be able to make an appointment for you.

Community Link Worker

We know that taking care of your health involves more than just medicine. Community Link Workers can provide support for more than medical issues. Your local Community Link Worker will spend time with you exploring what matters to you and help you to identify activities and/or local support which could improve your health and wellbeing. You can consider the benefits of participating in them, and we will assist and support you to plan your next steps. Themes of support can include:
